Hi there,

We hope you are staying at home and remain fit and healthy throughout this difficult time but wanted to let you know that your club is in great hands. In the time since we have been closed many improvements have been made and we appreciate all the support from our current members, corporate members and sponsors. We hope to be back open very soon and will notify everyone once we know an official reopening date, until then please see below the great things we have been doing and for daily updates please follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

We wish you well and look forward to seeing you again soon.

From all of us at Redlibbets Golf and Country Club

Warley Park

Warley Park Golf Club has been purchased by Get Golfing which is very exciting news for Redlibbets members as the golf club is just 25 minutes away. The golf club offer 27 holes, driving range, large clubhouse, great views across Essex along some beautiful lakes. You can learn more here.

Course Improvements

Despite the difficult situation we are in, Richard Covey and his team on the course have been working extremely hard to make lots of improvements and ensure you are getting a great course to play on.

  • New Approach Irrigation/Sprinklers fitted allowing us to water areas up to 50 yards short of the green, this will vastly improve the standard of these areas.
  • Overseeding and fertilising has taken place on tees, fairways, surrounds and greens which will promote growth and improve the lie in all areas plus presentation.
  • Our green recovery program commenced during lockdown which focused on areas of each green affected by fusarium. We are already seeing the improvements!
  • The bunker renovation and remodelling work has started again with shaping taking place to many bunkers including greenside and fairways bunkers. This is a continuation of the work from the 16th hole. New drainage is being installed, along with a 1 inch crumb rubber liner. The rubber crumb has been mixed with a permeable adhesive and then the bunker sand will be installed (see the final few photos for a sneak peak!).
  • Bunker re-design work started with the deep bunker on 5th hole that was always difficult to maintain and even harder to play from. There are more bunkers on 3rd, 4th, 14th and 18th being redesigned.
  • A water bowser has been purchased which will allow us to water areas that our irrigation system does not cover such as fairways.
  • Grass cutting remains vital to maintain the course definitions and quality of presentation. Despite limited staff there has been hand cutting for the tees and greens. This assists with a finer cut ensuring the course is ready for your first tee shot and first putt!

The App

Many would have now seen our new website www.redlibbets.co.uk and through this our members login which can be used to access everything you need. From May 1st 2020 we will be moving solely to the website login and removing our mobile app. You can login in using your internet browser on your mobile, ipad or computer and through our website which offer many more features than the current app.

Re-scheduling of Order of Merit events

We have postponed all competitions that were due to be played whilst closed for Covid-19, however once we know our re-opening date we will be re-scheduling all of those missed events and catching up with the majors and Order of Merit.

Update on members design ideas on 27 holes

Thank you to those who have sent in their own designs on our new 27 holes that will include Corinthians Golf Club. The challenging areas have been finding a way to start another 9 holes by our clubhouse and finish back at the clubhouse whilst including the 6 holes of Corinthians that are being acquired. If you would like to submit your design please send to [email protected] or [email protected]

New team members

Introducing Jack Coleman (Group Clubhouse Director) and James Hopcroft (Head Chef)

  • Jack is well respected in the industry having worked at high end operations in the Far East, Portugal and most recently the London Club; where he served for three years. He is a straightforward uncompleted operator who places great emphasis on standards, customer experience and staff welfare. His personal skill sets allow him to be hands on having undertaken practically every role that there is in a hotel and country club operation.
  • James joins us as Head Chef, James has been passionate about food from an early age “Like every child, I enjoyed baking cakes, and took a lot of inspiration from my mother. I really got a taste for it and decided to pursue a career in catering. I did my City and Guilds training at ACA Aldershot and went on to gain a degree in international gastronomy. I progressed through the ranks in a variety of establishments over the years. A few memorable ones are :- Senior Sous Chef at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, Senior Sous Chef at the Taj Samudra in Columbia, Head Chef for Cranleigh Golf and Country Club and Head Chef at Surrey Downs Golf Club. To relax away from work I enjoy playing the Guitar, teaching myself to play Piano and all kinds of DIY in the home and garden”. We are very excited to see James join the team at Redlibbets and look forward to producing a better quality and standard of food for our customers.

New Menus

When the clubhouse reopens we will be launching a new breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch menu in combination with the popular Sunday lunch. The menus will incorporate locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, showcasing the best Kent products have to offer. We will be open daily plus the addition of the new weekend brunch menu serving from 11am until 3pm, what could be nicer than enjoying some lovely food and drink with a wonderful view at Redlibbets.
