Course Introduction

The undulating landscape has given the architect Jonathan Gaunt the opportunity to create many impressive holes.

There is something remarkable about every hole at Redlibbets. Set in over 150 acres of parkland the course boasts hundreds of mature beech, oak and chestnut trees to embrace spectacular panoramic views across rolling Kentish countryside.

Redlibbets has been described as "Like a grand old course with modern greens". Many of the tees are set well above the greens and fairways and the designer, Jonathan Gaunt's strategy makes for exciting play for golfers of all abilities.

The Course

Hole 1

Risk or reward, hit driver and you could reach the green and make eagle! But beware you could end up making bogey or worse.

4 274-304

Hole 2

Toughest hole on the course by far. Most amatuers should play this hole as a par 5, if you make a 4 you've done well.

4 361-425

Hole 3

2 fairways on this hole. Left hand fairway makes the second shot easier, but you have to be able to draw your drive. The right hand fairway is a much easier drive but tougher approach as the green lies much higher than the fairway.

4298-357

Hole 4

One of the easiest tee shots on the course, lay up short of the bunkers to leave yourself a short iron to the green just slightly above the fairway.

4266-346

Hole 5

Dog leg left, the bigger hitters can take on the trees and really cut the hole down to size. Beware with the second shot as it is downhill and easy to run over the green.

4 361-432

Hole 6

First of the par 3's , the green is surrounded by bunkers left, right and the lady captains bunker (land in this one and you have to put 50p in the charity bottle)

3 132-174

Hole 7

The easiest of the four par 5's on the course, drive straight to miss the bunkers either side of the fairway, very reachable green in two, but beware bunkers guard left and right, with a very small green and no room behind.

5 439-494

Hole 8

Plays longer than its yardage as it is slightly uphill, bunkers surround the green and eat into the front so the tee shot has to fly all the way, this is our hole where the corporate days have their hole in one prizes.

3 146-171

Hole 9

Very tough driving hole out of bounds in the practice ground on the right, bunkers and a tree to block you out down the left, the big hitters can reach in two, a big bunker lays across the front of the green so the second shot has to fly all the way, the green lies away from the shot so very easy to over shoot the green.

5 470-515

Hole 10

Very tricky tee shot with a bunker and trees down the right, a tree on the left only 50 or so yards off the tee makes it very awkward to hit the fairway, a narrow green awaits the approach with bunkers front right and left.

4 336-395

Hole 11

The longest of all our par 5's, big drive could catch the bunkers left and right if you’re not absolutely straight, definitely a three shoter this hole again has the green surrounded by bunkers with a big two tiered green which must be judged well.

5 480-556

Hole 12

Long par 4 this one with a large bunker left and right of the fairway, the bunker on the left has the calling card of our designer Jonathan Gaunt who always has a grass island in one bunker, the second shot is normally a long iron or wood with out of bounds tight left.

4 406-471

Hole 13

Two different tee areas on this hole mean that you could be playing a completely different hole the second time you play the course, bunkers surround the green making it a shot that must fly all the way. This is the highest point of the course with some fantastic views across the countryside to the QE2 bridge and Canary Wharf.

3 140-165

Hole 14

This is our signature hole, the fairway is about 200 feet below the tee making this a fantastic hole to hit a good tee shot and watch it fly. The second shot for most is a lay up half way up the hill, the green laying a good 100 feet above the fairway, bunkers line the left of the third shot with the biggest bunker short left being a second world war bomb crater, finish in here at your peril (we think the bomb exploded)

5 431-521

Hole 15

One of our shortest par 4's , but extremely tight off the tee with out of bounds down the left and trees down the right, use a long iron or rescue off the tee to leave a short iron to a two tiered green, with the tier running through the right tier to left tier. If the flag is on the right hand tier it is very tough to get to.

4257-316

Hole 16

Drive down an avenue of trees to a fairway that slopes from right to left, this hole is all about the second shot with a bomb hole short of the green and the green running from front to back severely the iron shot has to be hit perfectly, once on the green the slope makes it very awkward to hole the putt.

4 370-419

Hole 17

Short par 3 straight downhill, beautiful and picturesque, this plays at least one club less make sure you hit the green if the ball lands short it will bounce through, little pot bunker on the right is the captains bunker land in here and 50p goes in the charity bottle.

3 121-176

Hole 18

Fantastic finishing hole with a fairway that slopes severely from right to left, leave it slightly right on the slope at your peril as the lake runs all the way down the left of the green so making for a real tough second shot. Too far left off the tee and you are in the trees. The green is two tiered front to back and can be three clubs different, depending on where the flag is. All in all a real tough finish!!!
